The Community Relations Coordinator is responsible for generating positive awareness and support of Youth Villages through corporate contacts/cultivation, community collaboration and outreach, presentations, events and tours



Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Corporate Relationships - Maintains contact and cultivates relationships with current corporate partners; actively seeks new contacts within the community; seeks opportunities for presentations, events, tours and volunteer involvement with corporate groups and facilitates corporate engagement in giving campaigns. Maintains database with current corporate relationships.

Community Collaboration - Stays apprised of community stakeholder situations, ensuring appropriate outreach is conducted accurately, timely, within budget parameters and in a way that supports operational goals. Actively seeks opportunities for collaboration with other organizations in the community for joint projects and activities that are mutually beneficial. Provides logistical support during community projects and activities.

Events, Tours, and Presentations - Coordinates events to support programs and goals. Coordinates local speakers bureau consisting of staff and volunteers as needed. Fields requests for tours and presentations, especially during the United Way campaign. Provides expert speakers for community events and groups. Conducts pre-event, event, and follow-up work to maximize awareness of Youth Villages and cultivate support.

Program Support - Stays apprised of state goals and program needs; coordinates implementation of program-related events. Conducts outreach to help achieve the goals and supports the programs, including facilitating and coordinating giving campaigns. Focuses on building local program support in major markets. Supports implementation of the strategic foster parent recruitment plan, including planning recruitment events and activities as appropriate.

Community Communications - Maintains the organization's database of community contacts and updates it regularly. Works closely with the Communications department to facilitate communications with community stakeholders and implementation of strategic communications plans when needed. Assists Communications department with newsletters and other communications tactics for the state when needed. Provides accurate data and mailing lists for state-level communications and newsletters.

Leadership Relationships - Assists the state Executive Director in coordinating state board meetings and communications. Works closely with the Development department to assist with cultivating donors and supporters.

Volunteer Relationships - Cultivates and coordinates volunteers across the state to support program goals and objectives; coordinates volunteer orientation and training with the Executive Director before assignment to program staff; maintains regular contact with volunteers throughout their assignment

Other - Perform additional duties as the request of the state Executive Director.



Bachelor's degree with major in public relations, public health or related field required. 

Minimum one(1) year experience in community relations, development or community outreach required.

Prefer the applicant to live and work in Jackson, MS.

Would consider candidates who exceed the qualifications and experience requirements in other MS locations with a YV office.
Travel is required for this position.

Due to event coordination, some non-traditional work hours should also be expected.
