Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Director of Digital Strategy and Creative Services, the Creative Services Manager builds and maintains a positive reputation and consistent look, feel and messaging for Youth Villages through the creation and production of communication materials, including print/digital publications, brochures, advertisements, flyers, annual report, development campaigns, etc., that meet the overall objectives and goals of the Marketing and Communications Department and Youth Villages as a whole. Leads the production team to deliver the highest quality output with attention to detail and design.


The ideal candidate will have experience as a creative or art design manager; is comfortable providing creative oversight on advertising development, photography and photoshoots (creating shot lists, art direction, etc.). Candidate should be comfortable working in a team environment, be collaborative, proactive with ability to successfully manage multiple projects.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Sets creative strategic direction for publications and printed/digital materials to meet operational objectives and enhance Youth Villages reputation with target audiences; offers valuable perspective on how publications and collateral (printed and digital) strategy can be used to maximum value for initiatives/programs within Youth Villages.

  • Supports project management software to ensure all projects are accounted for and are being managed to desired outcome.
  • Oversee online creative request system, brand guidelines (including revising and developing new ones as needed)
  • Manages workflow/project traffic for creative services department
  • Oversees and implements creative development and evolution of organization wide fund-raising campaigns (i.e. Holiday Heroes, Backpack Heroes, gala invitations, 5K races, newsletters)
  • Develops production schedules for all projects including printed materials, video production, photography; establishes and meets strict deadlines. Leads all video and photoshoots including setting priorities, needs, developing, leading and managing RFPs, developing shot list including props, wardrobe, talent, etc. – attends photoshoots, manages all post production (with photographer or video team); presents selects and manages all other elements until project is complete.
  • Oversees copywriter , design of, and production of printed materials, ensuring all printed/digital pieces and publications adhere to the organizations brand standards.
  • Supervises a Creative Services Coordinator and a Copywriter.
  • Maintains a collaborative relationship with PR and digital team to ensure all projects are aligned with department priorities, content plans and initiatives.
  • Manages outside vendors to ensure successful production, quality and efficient use of resources.
  • Maintains a strong working knowledge of printing technology, design, media, tools and trends.
  • Evaluates existing collateral assets, resources and tools and works with departments and business units throughout the organization to create, revamp, and leverage collateral assets as needed
  • Assumes all other duties that may be related to the production of printed material and performs additional duties at the request of the Director of Digital Strategy/Creative Services or Director of Marketing/Communications.


Bachelors Degree required.


Experience Requirements:

  • 5+ years design/production experience
  • 3+ years managing direct reports/team environment
  • Highly organized and strong attention to detail
  • Experience with Adobe creative suite or other design software
  • Advertising agency experience a plus
