The Human Capital Manager will report to the Executive Director and provide an ongoing independent focus and assessment of regional hiring and culture by building and maintaining an empowered, innovative, and progressive environment for Youth Villages employees.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

 

The Human Capital Manager will report to the Executive Director and provide an ongoing independent focus and assessment of regional hiring and culture by building and maintaining an empowered, innovative, and progressive environment for Youth Villages employees.

 

The position will be accountable for designing and implementing the overall strategy for engaging and retaining a talented workforce and will be influential in building and increasing retention and employee satisfaction.

 

Manage and cultivate YV New England culture on all levels including directors, middle managers, and front line staff members

  • Oversee new employee onboarding process/experience
  • Conduct new hire/ongoing consultation process on campus and in community-based
  • Collaborate with PI and Leadership Development/Organizational Coaches to help ensure adherence with proposals and initiatives where workforce is concerned
  • Identify struggling locations and evaluate staff experience; work with leadership through barriers to successful program

Develop and work with supervisors, managers, directors to define a positive staff experience

  • Grow, develop, and provide needed trainings/workshops to leadership staff, coaching them on industry best practices regarding employee engagement, workforce (skill) development, and professional growth
  • Develop and implement exit and stay interview process. Compile data from interviews and work with leadership to implement necessary changes
  • Create and provide training and professional development for new supervisors and leaders

Proactively identify opportunities to further employee development (succession) and customize programs and trainings as needed

  • Identify trends and growth areas and consult with leadership on barriers and challenges facing YV business planning related to workforce; analyze information and collaboratively problem solve solutions

Raise YVNE’s profile and ensure that the organization has a high-quality reputation among prospective employees; work with communications on brand oversight and awareness

  • Responsible for understanding market conditions that inform employee engagement and work with program leaders to build effective plans to ensure employee retention

Influence staff morale and engagement through different assessment structures (travel, observation, interviews, etc.)

  • Regularly evaluate local employee job satisfaction; report on progress or areas in need of improvement; work with leadership on solutions for improvement
  • Compile indicator data to determine effectiveness of hiring and retention initiatives; provide regular reports to leadership staff and to the local MA board, as directed
  • Create and implement team building programs that can be rolled out in every region and program consistently
  • Develop “Fun” Ambassador program

Create and measure metrics to assess staff experience

  • Supervision

  • Succession planning

 

Partner with Recruiting and HR to ensure a strong staffing pipeline

  • Along with other local regional leadership, provide on-ground support and direction to YVNE recruiting staff
  • Ensure productive relationships with colleges, universities, and professional organizations to help ensure a strong talent pipeline to YVNE. (e.g. discounted tuition with select schools, etc.)
  • Develop a targeted outreach plan with key academic institutions based on current employee relationships
  • Establish formalized undergraduate and graduate internship program, as needed

Qualifications

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree is required. Masters preferred
Minimum six months of experience with Youth Villages
3-5 years of experience required with training and talent management and/or general human resources
Clear understanding of industry trends and best practices related to ensuring a positive organizational culture, high employee morale, and consistent processes to maximize staff acquisition and retention
Supervision experience strongly preferred
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to lead and train others
Strong problem solving and customer service skills
Ability to analyze and communicate data and processes
