Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse Manager, and as per physician orders, takes vital signs, treats wounds and injuries, and evaluates the physical condition of patients.
  • Oversees and maintains medical charts and documentation for assigned patients monthly to include:  vital signs, weight, response and follow-up to consultation(s), response to and side effects of medication(s), etc. as designated by Quality Monitoring specifications, in accordance with JCAHO specifications, DHS standards and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Administers medicines to residents and oversees the distribution of medicines by Teacher Counselors when necessary.
  • Assists the consulting pharmacist in completing medication reviews and medication closet inspections.
  • Monitors, assess and documents the health care status of patients and contacts the physician(s) and/or hospital when necessary to arrange further medical treatment.
  • Develops and facilitates resident education programs, such as personal hygiene, sexuality, infection control, and other relevant topics as needed
  • Oversees the scheduling of physical and dental exams as well as other medical appointments for residents and coordinates schedules for the psychiatrist(s) and pediatrician.
  • Oversees the purchase of adequate medical supplies and makes certain that they are in stock.

 

Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager:  

  •  Supervises and schedules subordinate LPN and RN staff.
  • Evaluates and counsels subordinate LPN and RN staff.
  • Oversees the training of new employees to the Nursing Department.
  • Monitors outstanding patient accounts.
  • Performs as a medical liaison with outside consultants and with treatment teams.
  • Compiles monthly infection control report.
  • Submits a weekly report to the Nurse Manager.
  • Serves on Quality Teams as designated by the Nurse Manager, Management Team and/or Total Quality Management.

Qualifications

Requirements


Qualified applicants should have received a diploma from a accredited school of nursing or equivalent
Active RN license with ability to practice in Georgia required
One year of supervisory experience preferred.
Experience in the pediatric, community health and/or psychiatric fields preferred
Experience growth and development through our continuous training, as well as tuition and licensure reimbursement, or pursue opportunities to advance both clinically and administratively with Youth Villages.
