    Responsibilities

    Position Overview

    • Participate in training and in-service activities for teachers and instructional tutors
    • Develop and Implement an 8 week project based curriculum to be utilized Monday through Friday in the classrooms.
    • Provide behavior management and group management to group sizes of 6-10 per class
    • Create and implement theme based weeks to actively engage girls in community building
    • Facilitate an active and hands on learning environment to engage kids in participation
    • Improve children’s behavior through coping skills and other therapeutic interventions
    • Assist support counselors in crisis response as needed
    • Carrie out duties to assist the Licensed Teachers and/or by request from the Principal and the Director of Education
    • Attend weekly staff meeting
    • Other essential duties may be assigned as needed

    Additional Information

     

    The supervision and treatment of youth requires prolonged periods of walking and standing and physical agility.
    May be required to run and climb flights of stairs.
    Must be able to participate in physical interventions with youth when necessary.
    Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
    Will be required to complete Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and CPR training.
    Applicants must have valid driver’s license.

     

    Small Class Sizes to allow more one on one attention to individual students and their educational needs. The standard Youth Villages class size ranges from 8-15 children.

    Qualifications

    Requirements

     

    Bachelors degree (Education majors strongly preferred)
    Massachusetts licensure or eligible for Massachusetts licensure as a middle or high school teacher strongly preferred
    Experience working in a school setting is strongly preferred
    Experience teaching High School Students is strongly preferred
    Experience working with children with severe emotional and behavioral needs is a plus

     

    Experience growth and development through our continuous training, as well as tuition and licensure reimbursement, or pursue opportunities to advance both clinically and administratively with Youth Villages.
