Founded in 1986, Youth Villages has an annual budget of $300 million (85% of revenue comes from public sources) with 3,000 employees committed to helping more than 30,000 children and families each year in 23 states.

 

Youth Villages is hiring a new Development Manger to exponentially grow the fundraising efforts in Eastern North Carolina, primarily focused on Raleigh-Durham area but will also look at partnership opportunities in other key localities such as Wilmington, Fayetteville, and Greenville. The ideal candidates will be experienced fundraising professionals with an entrepreneurial spirit who have delivered measured and sustained impact in complex environments in which collaboration with volunteers was critical to success.

 

 

Responsibilities

Position Overview

This individual, in collaboration with the North Carolina Development Director, the Managing Director of Development for Regional Growth, and the North Carolina Executive Director, will execute on the strategic fundraising plan for Youth Villages in North Carolina and will play a key role in the expansion of Youth Villages' community presence.

 

Salary

$65000+ based on education and experience

 

Essential duties:

  • Identify and build relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors with a focus on development best practices to grow sustainable support in Eastern North Carolina with a goal of raising over six-figures in first year and growing that goal annually
  • In partnership with the NC Development Director recruit and coach a team of qualified volunteers as part of a NC Advisory Board dedicated to helping drive financial resources toward helping kids in need through YV programs
  • Focus on growing an Ambassador program of individuals that will host private mission events annually to introduce new prospects to Youth Villages programs and local impact
  • Be the main point person in region for special events and programs for our youth and families including, but not limited to, Backpack Heroes and Holiday Heroes programs.
  • Travel across Eastern North Carolina (20% or less travel) to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward gifts from individuals as well as generate written proposals for foundations and corporations across the state of NC to meet the annual fundraising goal.
  • Partner with Development Director to grow a mid and major gift program in region
  • In partnership with Youth Villages national marketing team, help generate impactful communications for donors through newsletters, videos and social media
  • Lead and collaborate with national grant writing team to research new foundations and prepare grants
  • Identify opportunities to network and present to community and corporate groups (i.e. churches, civic club, schools, etc.)
  • Maintain detailed information on donors, prospects and volunteers in the Youth Villages database (Salesforce)
  • Offer a broad familiarity with the contexts in which Youth Villages operates, including an awareness of the challenges faced by youth and families in crisis, in order to translate programmatic realities and successes to external audiences

 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of advanced nonprofit or higher education development experience leading strategic fundraising initiatives and growing diversified financial revenues and resources, preferably with organizations having no naturally affiliated constituencies
  • Demonstrated success in campaigns and securing major and annual gifts primarily from individuals followed by foundations and corporations
  • Has a history of achieving annual, measurable fundraising goals of six figures or more
  • Demonstrated success in working as a member of a team and developing effective working relationships with staff, volunteers and donors; while also having the ability to work independently to accomplish goals
  • Knowledge of both local and national philanthropic communities and businesses headquartered in region
  • Working knowledge of donor management software (e.g. Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce)
  • Understanding of best practices in donor stewardship and communication
  • Excellent time management, project management, and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral skills
  • Deep appreciation for and commitment to Youth Villages’ mission of helping America’s most vulnerable children and families
