Responsibilities

Job Summary:

 

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Manager to lead our billing operations within a behavioral healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing accounts receivable processes, proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, and a proven ability to hold billing specialists accountable to ensure timely and accurate billing and collections.​

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Supervision:
    • Oversee the daily operations of the accounts receivable department, ensuring efficient workflows and adherence to company policies.​
    • Supervise and mentor billing specialists, setting clear performance expectations and providing regular feedback.​
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement corrective actions when necessary to maintain high standards of accuracy and productivity.​
  • EHR System Management:
    • Utilize the organization's EHR system to manage billing processes, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims.​
    • Stay updated on EHR functionalities and updates, providing training and support to staff as needed.​
    • Collaborate with Director of Accounts Receivable to optimize EHR use for billing purposes.​
  • Billing & Collections:
    • Ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices and claims to patients and third-party payers.​
    • Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and implement effective collection strategies to reduce outstanding balances.​
    • Address and resolve billing issues and disputes promptly, working closely with patients, insurance companies, and internal departments.​
  • Compliance & Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, billing policies, and payer requirements.​
    • Maintain confidentiality of patient financial information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.​
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to streamline billing processes and implement best practices to enhance efficiency.​
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address systemic issues affecting accounts receivable.​

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts receivable management within a healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in staff supervision and development.​
  • Experience working with large claim volumes and financial data.
  • Proficient in AR software, EHR/EMR systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and in-depth knowledge of Excel.
  • Thorough understanding of accounts receivable functions such as billing, collections, and posting. Excellent supervisory and analytical skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • General knowledge of X12 EDI (837, 835, 270, etc…)
  • Ability to motivate staff, build relationships across departments, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of healthcare billing regulations and compliance requirements.​
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.​
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.​

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of payer contract negotiations and reimbursement methodologies.

Salary Range:

 

$75,000 - $85,000 depending on previous experience
