Founded in 1986, Youth Villages has always believed that even the most at‐risk children and their families can and will achieve remarkable success when given the tools and support to do so – this belief has resulted in 86% of children and young adults living successfully two‐years after they completed programs. Years of research, performance measurement, and evaluation has led to Youth Villages transforming the lives of over 30,000 children, families, and young adults annually, across 23 states and Washington D.C.
Youth Villages is a national leader in children’s mental and behavioral health, focused on providing the most effective help to children with emotional and behavioral problems, their families, and young people who are aging out of state services. By partnering with innovative state leaders and philanthropists, Youth Villages spurs positive change to child welfare, children’s mental health and juvenile justice systems through public-private partnerships, value- or performance-based contracting, and a focus on achieving long-lasting positive outcomes for the most challenging youth and families.
Along with the high impact on children’s lives, Youth Villages has also achieved 15% growth per year for the last fifteen years. President Obama recognized Youth Villages as a nonprofit with “promising ideas that are transforming communities.” Youth Villages Chief Executive Officer, Patrick Lawler, was named one of “America’s Best Leaders” by U.S. News and World Report and the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
